To advance her Everyone Belongs platform, Kid Governor Tessa collaborated with the Department of Children and Families on its CT Family Day poster contest!
Tessa invited 5th graders to submit artwork that answers the question:
In what ways do you and your family welcome and include people with disabilities so everyone feels happy, safe, and like they belong?
In celebration of CT Family Day, we are pleased to announce the poster contest winner: Brody Cresswell! Brody is a 5th grader at Litchfield Intermediate School in Litchfield. Of his artwork, he said:
“This is the tree of mindfulness. It starts as a sprout in the palm of your hand and the more you accept everybody, disabilities or not (especially disabilities) it grows and gains positivity until it becomes a grand tree with mindfulness written all over the branches. How can you accept disabilities to help your tree grow?”

Kid Governor Tessa and her Cabinet also identified 12 Finalists. Congratulations to these students and all who submitted artwork!
