Student Action Resource Center

Welcome to the Connecticut’s Kid Governor® Student Action Resource Center!

The CTKG program teaches students like you that we can all make a difference in our communities. In fact, it is our responsibility to be active participants in our society in order to make it better!

Whether you ran as a candidate in the Statewide Election, voted in the election, or heard about CTKG through the news, the following resources will help you think about community issues you care about and take action!

What is a community issue?

Community issuesare problems or concerns that a community (town, neighborhood or other community group) has
and believes they can fix.
Do you notice any problems in your school or town? Perhaps you notice bullying in the hallways, litter on the streets, people in need of food, or animals in need of help. These are all examples of community issues, and there are many more. For inspiration, watch the campaign videos of past CTKG candidates HEREHERE and HERE.
What community issue do you want to see changed in your school or town community?

How can kids make a difference around community issues?
There are lots of ways! Some suggestions are listed below — click on them for more information.
  • Working with your classmates and friends (COMING SOON!)
  • Writing to your elected officials
  • Using the media to gain support  (COMING SOON!)
  • Starting a petition  (COMING SOON!)

What are YOU doing to make a difference?
We want to know! Email 2018 Connecticut’s Kid Governor Megan Kasperowski at CTKGMegan@kidgovernor.org to let her know what issue you care about and what you’re doing to make a difference. Perhaps you will get a shout-out in her Stronger Than Cancer blog.
No matter your age, we each have a voice and the ability to make a difference!
